About Texas Cafe & Bar
Welcome to the history of the legendary “Spoon”!
Established in 1980, the original Texas Spoon quickly became a cherished Lubbock institution, standing strong for over four decades. Initially renowned for its mouthwatering smoked barbeque and vibrant live music scene, the venue witnessed the rise of iconic bands like Joe Ely, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Jimmie Dale Gilmore.
In the early 90s, the name of the establishment was changed to Texas Cafe, but the endearing nickname “The Spoon” has endured throughout the years. Today, we proudly carry on the tradition with our delectable homemade smoked pit barbeque and exceptional live performances. Prepare to be entertained by incredible acts like the Klifnotes, The Darren Welch Group, Elvis T. Busboy, and don’t miss our Sunday night jam session, featuring the incredible talents of local Lubbock musicians.
Join us at “The Spoon” for an unforgettable experience where savory flavors meet soul-stirring melodies, continuing a legacy that has captivated Lubbock for generations.
